On September 21, 2011 Kuban State Medical University became one of the winners of the 2nd open competition of the Grand Board of the Government of the Russian Federation designed for state support nerative medicine approaches for creation of airways and lungs for clinics.
In the frames of this grant the International research, clinic and educational center of regenerative medicine was launched at the basis of the University. It opened an opportunity of establishing a platform for development and introduction of new regenerative technologies as well as an educative facility for training of future specialists in the field of regenerative medicine from a wide range of medical and research institutions of Russia.
The center of regenerative medicine consists of a laboratory of fundamental research based at the Kuban State Medical University and a clinical laboratory based at the Regional Clinical Hospital №1.
Fitting of the laboratory of fundamental research of KSMU with equipment and the quality of the staff make it one of the best in Russia for carrying out of the preclinical research in the field of regenerative medicine in animal models and is not inferior to the international laboratories of this type.
On December 24, 2015 a cross-cutting theme research “Cell mechanisms of intrathoracic organs and tissues. Development of tissue-engineered constructions using biological and synthetic scaffolds” was considered at the meeting of the Central problem commission. On January 28, 2016 it was approved by the Academic council of the University.
For implementation of this project a research group consisting of 10 young scientists under the guidance of the associate professor Elena Gubareva was formed.
